Listo For It

Language, migration, and everyday belonging

I’m Tutu Chen. I grew up in China, Argentina, and Mexico before moving to the United States. Mandarin, Spanish, and English are part of my everyday life.

I started Listo For It to share Latin American stories and cultures through personal reflections and interviews.

Here I bring together conversations about belonging and an independent study of children’s language using existing CHILDES recordings.

01 / Listen closely

I create, script, record, and edit Listo For It. Through interviews and personal reflections, I explore language, migration, and everyday encounters.

Start with EP4: a reflection on how giving teammates rides became time together. “I treat these moments as mini hangouts now.”

02 / Ask a research question

How is caregivers’ use of wh-questions associated with children’s speech? My independent CHILDES study draws on transcripts in English, Mandarin, and Spanish.

Explore the study’s methods, findings, and limits, or visit Research for the wider context of my work.
